SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / –  Samsung Electronics introduced its eighth-generation foldable lineup during the global Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event held in London, unveiling three devices: the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean tech giant revealed refined hardware designs, enhanced camera systems, and integrated AI platforms across all models. This event marks the debut of the Ultra variant within Samsung’s foldable lineup, aimed at enterprise users, featuring a record-thin profile of 4.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighing 215 grams.

The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 sports a redesigned chassis with a weight of 201 grams, making it the lightest book-style foldable smartphone in Samsung’s product lineup. Its display setup includes a 10:16 aspect ratio cover screen and a 4:3 main screen, allowing seamless adaptation for browsing, reading, or video playback. Both screens utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology, with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits under Vision Booster. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, it is equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery.

To enhance durability while maintaining a slim profile, Samsung developed its proprietary Flex Titanium display structure for its premium foldables. The architecture combines a titanium-alloy film with an underlying titanium support plate, which helps absorb impact, evenly distribute mechanical stress, and minimize visible creasing over repeated folds. Adjustments to hinge balance, magnetic force, and display tension were made to ensure smoother opening and closing actions. The device also features a low-reflection finish to improve outdoor visibility and preserve vibrant colors in bright environments.

    Enhanced Hardware and Productivity Features

The flagship Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra offers an expanded 8.0-inch QXGA+ main display along with a 6.5-inch cover screen. Built for intensive multitasking and media creation, the Ultra model features a 200-megapixel main camera with High Dynamic Range, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor. For professional mobile videography, it supports 8K video recording utilizing the APV codec, complemented by Cine LUT color management tools for advanced editing workflows.

Inside, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra incorporates an expanded graphite cooling system designed to improve heat dissipation during demanding tasks. It runs on a 5,000 mAh dual-cell battery supported by 45W dual-path fast-charging, which efficiently distributes power across both cells. Performance options include up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, all operating on One UI 9 based on Android 17.

    Software Enhancements and Market Introduction

Alongside the larger foldables, Samsung introduced the compact Galaxy Z Flip8, which measures 6.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighs 180 grams. It features a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display, a 6.9-inch main screen, a 50-megapixel primary camera, and a 4,300 mAh battery. All three foldable models include AI-powered features developed in partnership with Google, such as Gemini Intelligence, Now Brief, and Now Nudge, which automate workflows, summarize complex files, and simplify app navigation.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 series will be available for pre-order immediately after the Unpacked event, with retail shipments scheduled to begin on August 7, 2026. Prices start at $1,899.99 for the base Galaxy Z Fold8, while the Ultra and Z Flip8 models feature updated pricing across regional markets. This launch underscores Samsung’s strategy to broaden foldable device adoption within both premium consumer and enterprise sectors worldwide.
