    UAE mourns death of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan

    The Ministry of Presidential Affairs has expressed its condolences on the death of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, who passed away on Wednesday, 24th March 2021. 
    UAE mourns death of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan

    In a statement, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his sincere condolences and sympathies to Al Maktoum family, asking Allah Almighty to grant them patience and solace to bear their loss. The UAE President has announced a three-day mourning period and ordered that the UAE national flag be flown at half-mast starting today (Wednesday) and be raised next Saturday, 27th March.

    Meanwhile the Dubai Ruler’s Court has mourned the death of Sheikh Hamdan announcing in a separate statement, that in view of the current exceptional circumstances and due to the precautionary measures in place, funeral prayer for the deceased will be limited to family members only. Absentee funeral prayers were held on Wednesday after the Maghrib prayer in mosques across the country.
    A ten-day mourning has been declared in Dubai and flags will be flown at half-mast during this period. Work will be suspended in government departments and institutions in the emirate for three days, starting from tomorrow, Thursday.

    Middle East Security Discussions in New York as UAE Participates in Trump-Led Meeting

    Abdullah bin Zayed takes part in New York discussions on Middle East peace and stability. The assembly featured notable figures such as Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa also participated. Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah was present alongside Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. They also explored avenues to enhance international cooperation to tackle regional and global issues. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the UAE’s backing for initiatives aimed at de-escalation and sustainable peace, linking regional stability to economic progress and overall prosperity. The dialogue reflected pressing concerns addressed during the UN gathering, where leaders utilize formal sessions and separate meetings to focus on security, diplomatic efforts, and development goals. Discussions in New York Focus on Regional Security Sheikh Abdullah also spoke about the UAE’s relationship with the United States during the session, highlighting ongoing cooperation rooted in shared interests, mutual respect, and longstanding bonds. The two nations collaborate across economic, political, and development sectors. He also recognized President Trump’s efforts in promoting security, peace, and development throughout the Middle East
