    Facility that drowned 200 dogs per day closed

    The Cambodian dog meat trade has received another blow. A dog slaughterhouse in Skun Province, estimated to have killed over one million dogs since it opened, was closed by Four Paws today. The global animal welfare organization also rescued all 16 dogs onsite, dismantled cages and demolished the drowning tanks.

    The slaughterhouse was considered a key supplier of dog meat in the region. Since opening the facility in 1995, the owner claimed to have drowned up to 200 dogs per day and supplied raw meat to dog meat restaurants in and around Cambodia’s capital city, Phnom Penh. Four Paws took the rescued dogs to their local partner and is now preparing them for adoption.

    In Cambodia, an estimated three million dogs, many of which are stolen pets, are killed for their meat every year. Four Paws warns not only of rampant animal cruelty, but also of the risks to public health. As part of its investigations into the dog and cat meat trade in Southeast Asia, Four Paws has discovered several high-volume slaughterhouses and hundreds of dog meat restaurants across Cambodia, most of them located in Phnom Penh.

    Middle East Security Discussions in New York as UAE Participates in Trump-Led Meeting

    Abdullah bin Zayed takes part in New York discussions on Middle East peace and stability. The assembly featured notable figures such as Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa also participated. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the UAE’s backing for initiatives aimed at de-escalation and sustainable peace, linking regional stability to economic progress and overall prosperity. The dialogue reflected pressing concerns addressed during the UN gathering, where leaders utilize formal sessions and separate meetings to focus on security, diplomatic efforts, and development goals. Discussions in New York Focus on Regional Security Sheikh Abdullah also spoke about the UAE’s relationship with the United States during the session, highlighting ongoing cooperation rooted in shared interests, mutual respect, and longstanding bonds. The two nations collaborate across economic, political, and development sectors. He also recognized President Trump’s efforts in promoting security, peace, and development throughout the Middle East
