EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – A five-year wheat supply deal worth up to US$500 million has been officially enacted between the UAE and Egypt. Al Dahra Agriculture Trading will deliver imported wheat to Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities under this arrangement. The purchases are financed through the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. This agreement operationalizes a framework established in 2023 and sets the conditions for wheat transactions between Al Dahra and GASC over the next five years.

Signed on August 26, 2026, at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein, the pact was attended by Egyptian Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, who is also GASC chairman. Al Dahra’s co-founder and managing director Khadim Abdullah Al Darei was present as well. Details regarding the wheat volume covered, delivery timelines, shipment origins, yearly purchase goals, or the pricing approach for individual transactions were not disclosed by officials.
This latest agreement builds upon a financing initiative announced by the UAE and Egypt in August 2023. That framework provided US$100 million in revolving funds for wheat and other vital commodities, structured to be renewed annually over five years, with a maximum potential of US$500 million. GASC participated alongside Egypt’s finance and international cooperation ministries in the initial setup. The current pact outlines how Al Dahra will supply wheat using that pre-existing financing arrangement.
Five-year plan advances into the wheat supply phase
Supporting the export financing arm of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, ADEX plays a key role in backing purchases related to UAE exporters. The 2023 agreement with Egyptian authorities covered wheat and other essential commodities supplied via Al Dahra. Its revolving structure allows annual renewal during the five-year span. However, this new agreement does not establish an additional US$500 million facility. Instead, it offers a commercial framework enabling GASC to buy imported wheat from Al Dahra within the scope of the existing ADEX financing program.
Since 2007, Al Dahra has maintained agricultural operations within Egypt, including farms in Toshka and East Oweinat. In 2023, the company reported cultivating approximately 28,000 hectares across Egypt. Over the previous three years, it supplied more than 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government. At that time, Al Dahra indicated that roughly 85% of the wheat produced on its Egyptian farms was sold locally. The company now manages an agricultural platform serving over 40 global markets.
Support for imported wheat procurement remains linked to ADEX financing
The agreement signed at El Alamein pertains to imported wheat supplied to GASC, even as Al Dahra also produces crops domestically within Egypt. In 2023, the company identified itself as the largest private-sector producer of wheat and corn in Egypt. The new deal therefore relates to a separate import channel supported by UAE export financing. GASC continues to be responsible for procurement under the arrangement, but neither GASC nor Al Dahra has revealed the total tonnage of wheat covered by the five-year agreement.
The total program value remains capped at US$500 million over five years, following the framework set in 2023. No detailed shipment schedule, sourcing countries, or pricing formulas for individual transactions have been disclosed by either Al Dahra or GASC. As of August 27, 2026, the formalized agreement links Al Dahra’s wheat supplies to GASC with the existing ADEX financing mechanism, marking the operational phase of this five-year initiative.
